Majority of Dane County’s best, brightest choose UW-Madison

May 29, 1998

A special section highlighting Dane County high school graduates, published with the May 20 editions of the Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times, indicates that the majority of those top students intend to study at the UW–Madison.

The section is the newspapers’ joint annual salute to the top 4 percent of Dane County graduates. A total of 195 students were recognized. Of those, 99 students self-reported that they will continue their education at UW–Madison.

“We have become increasingly popular with our own county’s best and brightest students,” says Keith White, associate director of admissions. “We are very proud of their academic achievements and pleased that they have elected to study at UW–Madison.”

Students represent Dane County high schools: Abundant Life, Belleville, Calvary Baptist, Cambridge, Deerfield, DeForest, Madison East, Edgewood, Madison La Follette, Madison Memorial, Madison West, Marshall, McFarland, Middleton, Monona Grove, Mount Horeb, Oregon, Stoughton, Sun Prairie, Verona, Waunakee and Wisconsin Heights.
