Outreach program features Mesoamerican culture

June 12, 1998

This summer marks the inauguration of “Sin Fronteras: Building Bridges Between Wisconsin and Mesoamerica,” a cross-cultural arts and educational outreach program organized by UW–Madison’s Latin American and Iberian Studies Program and the Madison Children’s Museum, with support from the Madison Metropolitan School District.

The program, scheduled to continue through the year 2000, features curriculum workshops for K-12 teachers, performances in schools, mobile mini-museums for selected “Barrio Schools” and a series of public musical events to be held throughout Madison June 14 through July 25. Many Latin American musicians will perform during these musical activities, including Ray Barretto, Maria Montenegro, Tino Medina and the Central American All-Stars.

For more information and a schedule of events, visit the “Sin Fronteras” Web page (you may have to scroll down the page to view the schedule.)
