Day at the Capitol highlights achievements from biotech to basketball

May 5, 2015 By Meredith McGlone

UW-Madison faculty, staff and students representing more than two dozen programs will visit the Capitol on Wednesday, May 6, to show how the university brings the Wisconsin Idea to life across the state.

Interactive demonstrations and exhibits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rotunda will showcase the university’s contributions to agriculture, science, technology, health and other fields. Babcock Dairy will offer tastings of its famous ice cream and cheese.

Joining the group will be members of the men’s basketball team, fresh from their inspiring NCAA tournament run. Senior guard Josh Gasser and sophomore forward Nigel Hayes will meet with state legislators and the public, accompanied by Assistant Coaches Greg Gard and Lamont Paris.

The student athletes will receive a proclamation from Gov. Scott Walker, speak with legislators and meet and take pictures with the public in the Rotunda.
