Working group to explore revised research leadership structure

January 7, 2014

As a follow-up to the establishment of a UW–Madison vice chancellor for research in 2010, the University Committee and Chancellor Rebecca Blank have appointed a working group to explore the efficacy of a leadership structure within the research enterprise that involves two positions – a vice chancellor for research and graduate studies and a dean of the Graduate School.

The working group is chaired by bacteriology Professor Tim Donohue and includes engineering Professor Susan Babcock, animal science Professor Mark Cook, oncology Professor Michael Gould, social work Professor Jan Greenberg, English Professor Caroline Levine, and Graduate School Associate Deans Daniel Kleinman and Petra Schroeder.

The group has begun meeting with campus stakeholders.

By mid-February, it will produce a report for the University Committee and Chancellor Blank, which will then be presented to the Faculty Senate in March.

Comments and questions can be directed to the group via workinggroup@uc.wisc.edu.
