UWPD update on Langdon Street incident

Around 6:27 p.m. on Wednesday, UWPD received reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Langdon Street near campus in downtown Madison. UWPD responded along with Madison Police.

UWPD notified the campus community through a series of WiscAlerts text messages, emails, web and social media posts, beginning at 6:32 p.m.

A suspect was initially believed to be headed west down the Lakeshore Path.

A person of interest matching the suspect description was detained at 6:42 p.m. by UWPD.

A thorough search of campus from Lake Street to Lot 34 along the lakefront was conducted.

No one was injured, and as of 8:50 p.m. there is believed to be no ongoing danger to the campus community. A series of all-clear WiscAlerts was sent.
