Student Personnel Association Conference seeks out “Educational Mindset”

Excitement is building for the of the Student Personnel Association’s 2013 conference at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. 

The conference takes place on Thursday, Feb. 28 at UW–Madison’s Union South, 1308 W. Dayton St.

Students and staff members at UW System schools are encouraged to attend, as well as those of other regional public and private institutions. The cost is $60 ($30 for students), with breakfast and lunch included. Registration will close on Tuesday, Feb. 19, or earlier if space is filled.

This year’s theme is “An Educational Mindset: Higher Education and the Virtual Generation.” The 2013 conference features a keynote address by the co-authors of the Mindset Lists of American History, Tom McBride, professor of English and Keefer Professor of the Humanities, and Ron Nief, emeritus director of public affairs, both of Beloit College.

Attendees are also welcome to submit program proposals for 60-minute presentations. Proposals will be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Founded in 1956, the SPA exists to create cross-campus connections among people who work with students to support, enhance and reinforce the learning mission of UW–Madison.

The conference aims to enhance professional skills, provide networking opportunities, enable colleagues to present and share best practices – as well as rejuvenate and celebrate existing and new ideas in student personnel work.
