Nominations, applications sought for rec sports director

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking applications and nominations for the position of director of recreational sports.

A search and screen committee, chaired by Wisconsin Union Director Mark Guthier, will recommend finalists for the position to Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Darrell Bazzell.

The new director of recreational sports will succeed Dale Carruthers, who retired in September. John Horn is serving as interim director.

In addition to Guthier, members of the search and screen committee include Mike Warren, recreational sports; Lisa Learish, recreational sports; Professor Edwin Chapman, neuroscience; James Rogers, Wisconsin Union; Dennis Reece, Office of the Secretary of the Faculty; Dean of Students Lori Berquam; Jason King, intercollegiate athletics; Jerry Ryan, University Health Services; Cindy Holzmann, University Housing; Ann Ward, kinesiology; Ian Malmstadt, student; Liz Percak-Dennett, student; and Dave Zweifel, community member.

The director of recreational sports provides vision, planning and management of UW–Madison’s Division of Recreational Sports, including all programs and services in the Southeast Recreation Facility, Natatorium, Camp Randall Sports Center, Nielsen Tennis Stadium and shared space in Lathrop Hall. The division’s mission is to enrich the UW–Madison experience by providing programs and services that promote the social, mental and physical well-being of the campus community.
