Academic staff volunteers sought for campus committees

November 15, 2012 By Greg Bump

The Academic Staff Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers to serve on the approximately 40 campus committees that include academic staff members.

The committees vary from Academic Staff Assembly standing committees, Distinguished Prefix Review and Area Review Committees and a number of shared governance committees.

Academic staff can indicate which committee they have an interest in serving on by filling out an interest survey here.

Steve Devoti, co-chair of the Academic Staff Nominating Committee, says indicating interest in the survey is not binding. As slots open on committees, a member of the nominating committee may contact an academic staff member who has expressed interest and further explore whether participation is possible.

Committee participation is a prime way for academic staff members to participate in our shared governance system at UW–Madison, says Devoti.

“It’s also a great way to grow personally and professionally, network with staff from other work units, and have a voice in campus issues,” Devoti says.
