New name for campus academic planning office

September 6, 2012 By Dennis Chaptman

The University of Wisconsin–Madison office that provides analysis of data and trends to support campus policy-making efforts has changed its name.

Academic Planning and Analysis, a branch of the provost’s office, has become Academic Planning and Institutional Research.

“As new people come to campus, they seem to understand our role better when we use the ‘institutional research’ label,” says Jocelyn Milner, director of the office.

Milner says that the office will continue to focus on data resources that support decision-making through studies of trend data, peer comparisons and analyses that combine data from disparate sources.
