On Saturday, June 30, a rededication ceremony will be held underneath the arch in celebration of its centennial. From 10:30 to 11 a.m., the 1st Brigade Band will perform, followed by the ceremony at 11 a.m.

Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary John Scocos will deliver remarks, and there will be a musical interlude performed by the 1st Brigade Band. Alan Hembel of the Sons of Union Civil War Veterans and Grand Army of the Republic Post No. 8 will also speak.

Lance Herdegen, a noted author and chair of the Wisconsin CW150 Commission to commemorate the Civil War sesquicentennial, will deliver the keynote address.

In a separate ceremony scheduled for 12:30 p.m., the three Detached Tents of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War will rededicate a stone bench in Camp Randall Memorial Park that was first dedicated in September 1937, nearly 75 years ago.

Grand Army of the Republic Post No. 8 plans to camp in the park on Friday night. Re-enactors of the era are encouraged to attend in period costume. A recreation of the photo taken at the dedication of the arch in 1912 will be taken sometime during the weekend.
