Going on spring break? Cast an absentee ballot for April 3 election

Students, faculty and staff who will be traveling during spring break but wish to vote in Madison in the April 3 election can still cast an absentee ballot with the Madison City Clerk’s office.

Friday is the last day to vote absentee in the April 3 election.

The Madison City Clerk’s office is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Thursday. On Friday, the office will extend its hours from 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The clerk’s office is located in Room 103 of the City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Among the items on the ballot April 3 are presidential preference, county judicial and board seats, and Madison School Board.

Voters will not be required to present photo identification at the polls for the April 3 election. Earlier this month, a Dane County judge ordered a halt to the implementation of the photo ID requirement for voting.

The judge’s order is under appeal, and UW–Madison has continued to issue voter ID-compliant student ID cards and enrollment verifications for those who request them. For more information, go to http://www.uc.wisc.edu/vote.

The judge’s order affects only the photo ID requirement of the law. Other election law changes, such as the 28-day residency requirement, elimination of the corroborating witness for voter registration and the requirement that voters sign the poll book, remain in place.
