March 19, 2012

Once again, UW–Madison is being recognized as one of the world’s top learning institutions, placing 27th in the annual Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings.

The annual list ranks universities on reputation for teaching and research. Nearly 18,000 academics in 137 countries are surveyed for the annual rankings.

Placing first was Harvard University, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Cambridge, Stanford University, and the University of California, Berkeley.

In the two years Times Higher Education has issued the rankings, almost 31,000 senior published scholars from 149 countries have responded, providing their insight into the academic prestige of universities across the globe.

“We’re proud of the hard work and innovation of our students, faculty and staff,” says Provost Paul M. DeLuca Jr. “This is another way of showing how that hard work is being noticed worldwide.”
