Faculty and staff feedback sought on Human Resources Design

February 2, 2012 By Greg Bump

UW–Madison staff and faculty will have multiple opportunities to offer their perspectives on the campus’ human resources system in several formats this month.

Work teams consisting of faculty, staff and other stakeholders are in the midst of a historic project to modernize the university’s HR system, called Human Resources Design.

Seven work teams have been meeting regularly, laying the groundwork for recommendations that will come later this spring. Four more work teams kick off their work today, Tuesday, Feb. 2.

With that initial groundwork laid, project leaders are now looking for ideas and feedback on the HR system from voices across the campus.

“A large part of the success of this project hinges on the input of a broad range of stakeholders throughout the campus community,” says Darrell Bazzell, vice chancellor for administration at UW–Madison. “Whether it’s through a poll, at a forum, or in discussion with HR supervisors, we hope that each and every employee on campus feels welcomed to become engaged in this process.”

One tool for gathering input is a poll featured on the project Web site.

New questions will appear periodically at the site.

Poll results will be one of many sources of information team members compile and consider as they develop recommendations for designing the HR system. Later this month, surveys will also be sent out to gather perspectives.

Plans also call for a series of employee forums later this month, with details to be announced soon.
