University website follows the Badgers’ return to Pasadena

December 27, 2011 By Dennis Chaptman

An interactive website will follow the Badger faithful as they head to southern California for the 2012 Rose Bowl — and connect with those who cheer the Badgers at home, wherever they are.

The site — rosebowl.wisc.edu — provides a taste of the Rose Bowl experience and offers fans a chance to post and view photographs from pre-game and game-watching events around the world.

New this year is a fan-friendly way to share your photos with the rest of the Badger Nation. Here’s how it works:

  • Email a photo to rosebowl2012@uc.wisc.edu. The image will post to the UW–Madison Rose bowl site (and a related UW–Madison Flickr set). The subject line will serve as caption.
  • Tweet to the hashtag #rosebowlUW with a photo from most common Twitter photo services (Yfrog, Twitpic, Lockerz, pic.twitter.com, ow.ly, Instagram.) The photo will upload to the page and the text of the tweet will serve as caption.
  • Or, upload photos directly to the site.

All photos will be moderated before automatically posting to the site, which is mobile optimized to be viewable from phones. Email socialmedia@uc.wisc.edu if you are experiencing problems with the upload system.

Campus Twitter accounts such as @UWMadison will also be following the Rose Bowl action leading up to the Badgers game against the University of Oregon on Monday, Jan. 2.

Fans can also pinpoint on a world map where in the world they’ll be watching the New Year’s Day game. Blog posts from southern California, including video and photos, will help to capture the moments that go into making a trip to Pasadena special.

Rosebowl.wisc.edu also captures the social networking experience by capturing and sharing Rose Bowl-related Twitter posts. Twitter posters are being encouraged to use the hashtag #rosebowlUW. The site also links to team news posted by the Athletic Department and by the Wisconsin Alumni Association on their Rose Bowl sites.
