We give thanks!

We want to share with you the progress of our UW Partners in Giving Campaign

Our campus coordinating committee reports that, while we do have some room for improvement, we are seeing some encouraging results. As of week four of the campaign, 915 UW employees have collectively given $288,770. It is not terribly surprising that we are slightly behind where we were last year at this time with 44 fewer donors and $49,000 less in dollars-pledges received. The average gift of $315.12 is about $40 less than then last year. We need to pick up the pace if we are to achieve our goal — which, at $2.8 million, would keep the overall state and university campaign contribution level with last year.

There is good news: 16 UW units are ahead of last year’s pace in both “dollars in” and “donors in” for the campaign — CALS, Business Services, School of Business, Division of Student Life, Division of Continuing Studies, School of Education, Enrollment Management, General Services, Law School, School of Nursing, University Health Services, UW Extension, UW Police Department, UW System Administration, the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Lab and Wisconsin Union.  It is great to see this kind of energy and commitment for an important cause – from units large and small across campus.

Thank you to all of you who have already chosen to make a difference in our community by contributing to this grassroots, employee-driven campaign. We understand that paychecks have been stretched even more than they were last year, and that economic news is still bleak. These things affect us all, and serve to further the need for this campaign. If you would like to help, or to know more, we urge you to visit the campaign website where you will see what  an impact a gift of just $26 a year can have on a cause you care about.

As we break to celebrate Thanksgiving—we cannot say thank you enough, both to those who have given and to all of you who might consider still doing so. Your support brings hope to so many.

Thank you,

David Ward and Paul DeLuca
