Wisconsin Singers to perform Nov. 18

November 7, 2011

The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s renowned Wisconsin Singers will perform “Starstruck!” — the group’s newest show — on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Overture Center.

The singers, dancers and instrumentalists will perform music by the greatest stars of American popular music from the past four decades. Stevie Wonder, the Jackson Five and Eddie Van Halen music will share the stage with Justin Beiber, Beyoncé and Gene Kelly in a variety of medleys that pay tribute to the stars of pop. The Wisconsin Singers band will highlight the best music of jazz legends and feature top classical music superstars. Badger fans will recognize the hits of the Fifth Quarter medley and welcome Bucky in a guest appearance.

Robin Whitty-Novoty, director of the Wisconsin Singers since 1990, says the group is excited about performing at the Overture Center. “We are on the road so much as ambassadors for the UW that it is especially exciting to perform for our hometown of Madison,” she says. “Having the show in the Overture gives our audience a chance to see the Singers the way they should always be seen — on a gorgeous stage, with brilliant lighting and impeccable sound. It’ll be an evening we will all remember a long, long time.”

Tickets ($13 for balcony seating and $23 for orchestra seating) can be purchased by calling 608-258-4141 or 1-800-309-6995 or online at www.overturecenter.com. For more information, visit www.wisconsinsingers.com.
