Zimmermann run/walk planned for Sept. 17

August 31, 2011 By

A fundraising run for the Madison Crime Stoppers reward fund in memory of Brittany Zimmermann will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17. Early registration is now under way.

The UW Police Department and Madison Area Crime Stoppers are teaming again this year to host the Brittany Zimmermann Memorial 5k Run/Walk on campus. It will start at 9 a.m. from the Alumni Pier next to the Memorial Union Terrace. The course runs along the Howard Temin Lakeshore Path beside Lake Mendota.

Zimmermann was slain in her campus apartment on April 2, 2008. Police continue to search for her killer.

Last year, more than 400 people turned out to keep Zimmermann’s memory alive and increase public awareness about the unsolved case.

For more information, including registration and entry fees, prizes and related activities, visit http://madisonareacrimestoppers.org/zimmermann5k/. The early registration fee is $20 until Saturday, Sept. 2.

Proceeds from the event go to the Madison Area Crime Stoppers reward fund.
