Bike to Work Week is underway

June 6, 2011

UW Transportation Services is once again partnering with the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin to promote various Bike to Work Week events throughout town.

Check out the Madison Bike To Work Week webpage for information on commuter stations, biking to work with Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, and the bike-in movie finale party.

Another part of the week consists of the Get Up and Ride Wisconsin Bike Challenge. This is a free event and an opportunity to promote wellness, team building and bicycling within your workplace.

The Bicycle Federation will provide participants with everything needed to make coordinating the challenge within your workplace simple.

By participating in the Wisconsin Bike Challenge, you and your colleagues can track your bicycle miles and trips for both transportation and recreation using the challenge website. Each month, the Bicycle Federation will give away bike prizes to challenge participants.

Another exciting aspect of this year’s challenge is that your department will be able to see real-time reports that show miles biked, trips taken, calories burned, gas dollars saved, and CO2 saved for your department. There will be challenge other departments across campus during the  event.

Although the challenge has begun, there is still plenty of time to get your department signed up.
