Hilliard named Multicultural Student Center director

June 4, 2011 By John Lucas

The Division of Student Life has appointed Donte Hilliard as new director of the Multicultural Student Center (MSC).

Hilliard has served as the MSC’s interim Director since September 2010 and also has assistant director experience at both UW–Madison and Purdue University.

Associate Dean Argyle Wade, chair of the search committee, says he’s happy with the outcome of this search. “I am confident in Donte’s ability to continue leading the MSC forward,” says Wade. “There were many strong applicants from across the country and Donte rose to the top of the group.”

The MSC strives to collaboratively strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus where all students, particularly students of color and other historically underserved students, are engaged and can realize an authentic Wisconsin Experience.

Priorities for the new director include outreach to the campus and community, assessing the department’s structure and activities, and building the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission.

“I’d also like to extend my thanks to all of the campus community members who participated in the process and provided valuable feedback on the candidates”, says Wade.

Hilliard will begin as permanent director on July 1. He replaces founding director Candace McDowell.
