Recent Sightings Recent sightings: TAA organizes march to the Capitol

February 18, 2011

Responding to the call from the Teaching Assistants’ Association (TAA) for a “teach out” on Feb. 17, supporters gathered on Library Mall at UW–Madison and marched to the State Capitol in response to Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed budget repair bill. The TAA called for holding classes off campus or rescheduling them.

In a statement, Provost Paul DeLuca said, “We value public debate and participation in the political process,” but asked faculty and staff to “ensure that students’ educational opportunities are preserved.” For information on the budget repair bill and what the proposal means to the university, visit http://budget.wisc.edu.
