UWPD releases official crowd count for Obama rally event

University of Wisconsin–Madison Police officials estimated 26,500 people attended the President’s Address on the UW campus.

The space inside of Library Mall area was occupied by approximately 17,200 attendees. The other individuals who were not able to enter the site occupied a large portion of Bascom Hill, as well as spaces in front of Science Hall, East Campus Mall, and a portion of State Street Mall.

Prior to the event gates opening, people formed a line that streched for 1.1 miles waiting to enter the event.

The crowd was exceedingly well behaved, and there were only minor medical issues that were dealt with during the event.
