&lt;h2&gt;Call for Proposals: &lt;abbr&gt;WUN&lt;/abbr&gt; Research Development Funds&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Worldwide Universities Network (&lt;abbr&gt;WUN&lt;/abbr&gt;) announces the availability of WUN Research Development Funds. All faculty and academic staff are invited to apply for WUN Research Development Fund grants designed to facilitate international collaboration. Please see the links below for detailed proposal information, deadlines, financial guidelines and eligibility.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;abbr&gt;WUN&lt;/abbr&gt; is a consortium of leading public research universities. Its members draw on combined resources and expertise to advance knowledge and understanding on issues of global concern. &lt;abbr title="University of Wisconsin"&gt;UW&lt;/abbr&gt;&amp;ndash;Madison&amp;rsquo;s participation in WUN activities has resulted in wide-ranging impacts, including research advances, strengthened international partnerships, extramural funding bids, sharing of best practices, new online resources and innovative educational opportunities.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;Academic staff professional development&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;All academic staff with 50 percent appointments or more are invited to apply for fiscal year 2009&amp;ndash;10 Academic Staff Professional Development Grants for conferences, training or other professional development projects that occur between &lt;abbr title="January"&gt;Jan.&lt;/abbr&gt; 1&amp;ndash;June 30, 2010. Proposals should focus on training and/or retraining to improve the &lt;abbr title="University of Wisconsin"&gt;UW&lt;/abbr&gt;&amp;ndash;Madison academic staff member&amp;rsquo;s effectiveness in his/her current role. Funding is not available for fundamental job-skill training, course development or salaries.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://acstaff.wisc.edu/awards/pdGrants.aspx"&gt;Applications&lt;/a&gt; must be submitted to department chairs or unit heads by Friday, &lt;abbr title="October"&gt;Oct.&lt;/abbr&gt; 16. &lt;h2&gt;Graduate Student International Field Research Awards&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Division of International Studies announces the 2009&amp;ndash;10 competition for Graduate Student International Field Research Awards. Awards are intended to cover airfare and living expenses abroad and are expected to average about $3,000 per student.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Proposals should be submitted to the International Institute member program to which the student is applying. Complete applications are due by 4 &lt;abbr&gt;p.m.&lt;/abbr&gt; on Friday, &lt;abbr title="October"&gt;Oct.&lt;/abbr&gt; 16.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a &lt;abbr title="University of Wisconsin"&gt;UW&lt;/abbr&gt;&amp;ndash;Madison doctoral program and have completed their &lt;abbr class="initialism" title="Master of Arts"&gt;M.A.&lt;/abbr&gt; or &lt;abbr class="initialism" title="Master of Science"&gt;M.S.&lt;/abbr&gt;; and priority will be given to pre-dissertation exploratory research. The award is not intended to cover language study. The competition is open to &lt;abbr class="initialism" title="United States"&gt;U.S.&lt;/abbr&gt; citizens and international students.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;Classified Staff Child Care Grant&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Classified Staff Child Care Grant is a privately funded family child care award given to permanent &lt;abbr title="University of Wisconsin"&gt;UW&lt;/abbr&gt;&amp;ndash;Madison classified employees who need assistance with paying for the high cost of quality child care. Permanent &lt;abbr title="University of Wisconsin"&gt;UW&lt;/abbr&gt;&amp;ndash;Madison classified employees who demonstrate a high need for financial support for child care are eligible, and both part- and full-time employees are eligible. Typically, a total of $2,000 is disbursed annually among four to six families. Awards range from $250-$500.&lt;/p&gt;
