Baha Balantekin, Eugene P. Wigner Professor of Physics, has been elected to the Executive Board of the American Physical Society (APS).

Mary Behan was named the School of Veterinary Medicine’s new associate dean for research and graduate training.

John H. Booske, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been appointed Duane H. and Dorothy M. Bluemke Professor.

Mark Rickenbach, Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology, was recently appointed as a trustee to the Great Lakes Forest Alliance.

Vadim Shapiro, Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been appointed Bernard A. and Frances M. Weideman Professor.

Assistant professor of Spanish education Paul D. Toth is the first person since the award’s inception in 1997 to receive the ACTFL/MLJ Paul Pimsleur Award for Research in Foreign Language Education twice for a single-authored paper. The national award of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and the Modern Language Journal recognizes one article each year that makes an outstanding contribution to research in foreign language education or second language acquisition.
