All staff invited to administrative project forums

October 3, 2007

Two employee forums to update the campus community on UW–Madison’s Administrative Process Redesign (APR) project are set for Friday, Oct. 12, and Monday, Oct. 15.

The Friday session will be held from 8:30–10 a.m. in the Memorial Union’s Great Hall and from 2:30–4 p.m. Monday, in the Microbial Science Building’s Ebling Symposium Center. All university staff members are invited and may attend without loss of pay.

APR is the collaborative project started last spring to examine the way administrative services are delivered on campus.

The goal is to improve efficiency by streamlining and standardizing business practices in academic units, administrative areas and central offices, as well as proposing new service delivery models. Project teams have been engaged in the work of the project during the past several months.

Vice Chancellor for Administration Darrell Bazzell will speak at the forums, providing part of the project overview along with Alice Gustafson, APR project leader. Each of the APR teams — including Business Services, Human Resources, Sponsored Programs (research and grants) and Information Technology — will also provide an update of their work.

“One of the three goals of the APR project is to engage the campus in an inclusive and transparent project so all stakeholders are involved,” says Bazzell. “These campus forums are a sign of our commitment to achieving this goal. I invite you to join me and others from the APR project at one of these forums, so that together we can move this important dialog forward.”

For those taking a campus bus, please note that the Route 80 bus stops close to the Microbial Sciences Building, at Linden and Babcock drives, and both Routes 80 and 85 stop at the Memorial Union. Visit the APR web site for more information concerning the Campus Forums or the APR project.
