Sexual assault awareness month recognized on campus

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and University of Wisconsin-Madison and community survivors and activists have assembled a full slate of activities ranging from lectures and training sessions to performances and a candlelight vigil.

Events include:

- Can I Kiss You? 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, Memorial Union Theatre, a presentation by Mike Domritz, sponsored by UW PAVE (Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment).

- Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. 12:10-1:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, UW School of Social Work Building, 1350 University Ave. A discussion for campus professionals sponsored by the Rape Crisis Center.

- Gender Discussion with sexual victimization expert Laurel Crown, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, Chadbourne Residential College.

- Survivor Empowerment Show. First performance, 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, Steep and Brew, 544 State St. Second performance, 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21. Memorial Union Play Circle.

- Chimera Self Defense Classes. A self-defense program that emphasizes avoidance and teaches psychological and physical protection skills. Upcoming class sessions include Chimera A: 12-6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 12-6:30 p.m., Gordon Commons; $20 student/$30 public. - St. Mary's Day of Reflection-Candlelight Vigil for Healing, 2-4 p.m. Thursday, April 26, St. Mary's Hospital Chapel, 707 S. Mills St. Light a candle in honor of those affected by sexual violence.
