Native Nations photo scheduled
Nov. 29, 2006
Of the 563 federally recognized American Indian and Alaskan Native Nations today, more than 50 are represented at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
To commemorate the end of November's Native American Heritage Month, all Native American members of the campus community are invited to the top of Bascom Hill at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, for a group photo.
In addition, signs will line Bascom Hill with the name of all Nations represented in the university community.
From 1946-76, 33 American Indian and Alaskan Native peoples graduated from UW-Madison with undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees. From 1976-2006, approximately 779 American Indian and Alaskan Native people graduated at all levels.
