Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery seed-grant winners named
The research program of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery got under way today (Feb. 21) as officials announced the results of a campuswide competition for the institutes’ Discovery Seed Grants.

National Entrepreneurship Week planned for next week
The Office of Corporate Relations is hosting a number of programs for Entrepreneurship Week USA, a national effort to inspire and encourage young people to consider entrepreneurship as a career choice and to celebrate America’s culture of inventiveness. Events will last from Feb. 25–March 3, with a theme of “What’s Your Big Idea? Take It On!” A forum titled “Make Your Passion Your Profession” will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Memorial Union (check Today in the Union for room location).

Geography professor honored with lifetime achievement award
Longtime UW–Madison geographer Waltraud Brinkmann has been selected as the recipient of the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Climate Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers.

Dalai Lama tickets on sale to general public Feb. 27
His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, will speak at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at the Kohl Center. Tickets, which cost $23, will go on sale to the general public, including faculty and staff, at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
