Employee Matters
Submit nominations for Classified Employee Recognition Awards
The nomination process is under way for the 2008 Classified Employee Recognition Awards, which honor classified employees who have done outstanding work for the university community. Nominated candidates are evaluated on key factors that include promoting excellence within the work unit, performing well under pressure, developing innovative solutions to everyday problems and participating in public-service activities outside normal work responsibilities. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Feb. 22. A committee will review nominations and make the final choices. Recipients will receive a commemorative plaque, paid registration to an employee development program of their choice and a cash award. ‘Mini conference’ on new south campus Union building project set for Feb. 25
The Wisconsin Union announces a “mini conference” to formally kick off the Wisconsin Union Initiative, a project to build a new “green” south campus union and restore and upgrade Memorial Union.

UW–Madison’s annual report available online
“Bold Changes, Strong Roots,” UW–Madison’s annual report for fiscal year 2006–07, is now available online. The report includes an introductory message from Chancellor John D. Wiley; a Year in Review section that includes text and photos related to research findings, teaching and learning initiatives, building projects, leadership appointments and key events; and a Facts and Figures section that covers budget trends and benchmark statistics. The site includes a downloadable PDF file for those who wish to print a copy.
More clues on ‘Jeopardy!’ visit
One of the country’s most popular and longest-running game shows — “Jeopardy!” — rolls into Madison on Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12. UW–Madison will host the show’s annual College Championship at the Kohl Center, pitting 15 full-time undergraduates from colleges and universities around the U.S. against each other in a two-week tournament. The winner earns $100,000 and a spot in the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions. Details on public ticket distribution will be announced by NBC-15 during its 10 p.m. news broadcast on Thursday, Feb. 14. University Theatre presents ‘The Bluest Eye’
