Observatory Drive to close next week

From Monday, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 13, Observatory Drive from the eastern edge of Babcock Drive to the Soils building will be closed for repaving.

Units continue move to North Park Street offices

The Office of Human Resources is relocating to 21 N. Park St. through Friday, Aug. 4. Units in the department that will be located in the building include the Customer Access Center (all walk-in traffic, including information regarding classified and unclassified vacancies, in-person pickup of payroll checks and appointment check-in); Employee Benefits Services; Payroll and Financial Services; Classified Human Resources; IT Business Systems and Services; International Faculty and Staff Services; Cultural Linguistic Services; and a satellite office of Human Resource Development. The Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Human Resource Development will remain in Bascom Hall. General calls for the Office of Human Resources can be made to the main number, 265-2257. A new, free campus bus route (Route 85) began its weekday service on July 31. The route will run from 7 a.m.–6 p.m. between 21 N. Park St., the Memorial Union and Union South. Drum corps event to restrict street access next week

The Drum Corps International World Championships will be returning to Camp Randall Tuesday-Saturday, Aug. 8-12, and there will be restricted street access around the stadium.

Longtime political scientist, former Letters and Science Dean Leon Epstein dies at 86

Leon Epstein, a political science professor of 40 years and dean of the College of Letters and Science in the tumultuous late 1960s, died on Aug. 1 in Madison following a recent injury. He was 86.
