Slide show: We Love a Parade
Original_01_homecoming_parade11_3334

Always a popular annual event, this year’s Homecoming Parade — held during early evening on Oct. 14 — took on special meaning for enthusiastic Badger fans. The Wisconsin Alumni Association, the parade’s sponsor, is marking its 150th anniversary of serving UW-Madison and its graduates. Homecoming itself turns 100; in November 1911, 3,000 alumni turned out for the first celebration to hear speakers and enjoy refreshments before heading to the football game at Camp Randall. And this year the Bucky Wagon returned as a centerpiece of school spirit, showing off a fresh coat of red paint and major mechanical upgrades, thanks to College of Engineering faculty and students who refurbished the 80-year-old vehicle with support from corporate donors.

At left, parade grand marshal Abigail Conley grins with delight as her car leads the UW Spirit Squad and start of the campus's 100th Homecoming Parade.
