Slide show: Combat Catharsis
On March 24-26, 2011, the Combat Paper Project visited the Arts Loft on campus to help military veterans turn their combat uniforms into hand-made paper, which they can then use to create cathartic works of art. The project was part of the Sunlight Project and Symposium, a Year of the Arts marquee event to reflect on the legacies of the Vietnam War through the arts and humanities.
At left, Drew Cameron, a member of the Combat Paper Project, works with participant Laima Mikaliukas (left) to tear military uniforms into small strips that will be turned into paper pulp.
