When unexpectedly warm temperatures and cabin fever mix, Wisconsinites find every possible excuse to be outside. On the UW-Madison campus, people were soaking up the spring teaser, thoroughly enjoying the incongruity of a 52-degree February day. With temps 30-plus degrees higher than usual, who could resist relaxing on the Memorial Union Terrace, strolling along the Lake Mendota shoreline or leaping for joy in flip-flops?

Here, undergraduate Tucker Torok enjoys lunch as ice fishers still congregate.
