RE: TIP/Outdoor advertising art
A link between art students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the general public will open to motorists on Monday, Dec. 15, via billboards displaying student work. Exact locations will be announced soon. The student designs will be selected on Dec. 8.
Organized around the theme of "Identity," the 40 students in the two-dimensional design class have been working in randomly assigned groups to create works of art incorporating elements of design, words and philosophical concepts. Each group brainstormed ideas, created thumbnail sketches, did layouts and received critiques.
According to Jenny Price, the teaching assistant for the class, the hope is that other UW-Madison departments and programs will see the long-term benefits of public art and launch their own projects. This project was made possible with support from Adam's Outdoor Advertising.
Staff from Adam's will join colleagues from Kennedy Advertising to select final projects on Monday, Dec. 8. Media are invited to the jury process at 9 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in Room 7621 of the Mosse Humanities Building. To attend, contact Price at (608) 469-4477 or jen@jennyprice.com.
