RE: May 10 deadline for requesting media credentials for Dalai Lama event

This Friday, May 10, is the final deadline for credential requests from media organizations interested in covering the Wednesday, May 15 appearance of the Dalai Lama at the Change your Mind, Change the World 2013 event at Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, Wis.

Space for media representatives is very limited, especially for crews - please see below. Only a select number of credentialed print journalists will be seated in Overture Hall, where the event is taking place. No backstage access will be permitted and no interviews with the Dalai Lama will be arranged.

Please submit requests on media outlet letterhead to Alison DeShaw Rowe at deshaw@wisc.edu or via fax at 608-265-5535. Be sure to provide the name and title of those assigned to cover the event, along with mobile number and email address. The deadline for submitting requests is 4:30 p.m. on May 10.

Confirmations will be emailed by Monday, May 13. Credentials will be distributed at the Overture Center's Henry Street entrance between 7:30 and 8 a.m. (for the 9:30 a.m. session) and between noon and 12:30 p.m. (for the 2 p.m. session) on May 15. Early arrival is necessary due to security checks. Latecomers will not be admitted. A photo ID must be shown to receive the credential, preferably a driver's license or media identification card.

ATTENTION CREWS: Due to lack of space in the venue and the security levels of this event, no crews will be admitted to the actual event space (Overture Hall), however, a live HD feed will be available in a designated media room on the third floor of the Overture Center in the Wisconsin Studio. Confirm your media room access with Alison DeShaw Rowe (see above) by May 10 so you may be added to the list.

Directions to the media room: You are strongly encouraged to park in the Carroll Street ramp behind the Orpheum Theater. There will be no access to the loading dock or curbside pickup/drop off. Enter the Overture Center on State Street, take the elevator to the 3rd floor and enter the Wisconsin Studio.

Media room equipment: There will be a projector and speakers to monitor the events in Overture Hall. Power and wireless Internet access is also available. In addition, a distribution amplifier will be available to obtain a feed of the events in Overture Hall. Connections will be in the corner of the Wisconsin Studio on the third floor of the Overture Center. This will be a dirty feed including lower third identifiers.

Signal types:

-HD-SDI 1080i with embedded audio - distribution amplifier with BNC connector. Stations must supply their own BNC cable.

-Analog composite video (BNC) (anamorphic or wide screen) with analog mono audio - XLR male line or mic level available.

Other opportunities:

-On-campus simulcast: A simulcast of Change your Mind, Change the World 2013 will take place at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery (H.F. DeLuca Forum, 330 N. Orchard St.) from 9:15-11:30 a.m. and 1:45-3:30 p.m. Light snacks will be served.

-A live webcast will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and from 2-3:30 p.m. via www.cmcw2013.com.
