RE: TIP/JUNE 21 SUMMER MOVE-IN TRAFFIC
During the summer months, many University of Wisconsin-Madison residence halls are occupied by guests attending a variety of residential programs sponsored by various departments and schools on campus. Among the programs are sports camps, the Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE), Junior Music Clinic, SOAR, the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (WCATY) and other youth programs.
Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, approximately 1,400 guests will arrive on campus. They will be staying primarily in the southeast and Lakeshore residence halls.
During the move-in hours, Lake Street will be closed between West Johnson and West Dayton streets. Transportation Services has been involved with the move-in parking and drop-off plans, which include temporary drop-off locations along Murray Mall and adjacent to the affected residence halls.
Motorists can expect traffic delays along Dayton Street, as several hundred guests will be arriving there during the same time period. Road construction may slow entry and access to areas adjacent to the halls.
Drivers should also be aware that Observatory Drive is closed to all traffic between North Park Street and Charter Street due to a utility construction project east of Bascom Hall.
