RE: TIP/TRANSPORTATION EXPERTS AVAILABLE FOR SUMMER TRAVEL INSIGHTS
With the Memorial Day weekend unofficially ringing in the start of vacation and travel season in the United States, a number of University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers can offer perspectives on travel patterns, fuel prices and the current state of the nation's highways.
- Glenn Bower, mechanical engineering faculty associate, (608) 263-7252, grbower@engr.wisc.edu.
Bower is an expert in in-cylinder engine combustion and engine and hybrid controls. He is available to talk about hybrid and electric vehicles. As the adviser for the UW-Madison vehicle teams, including the hybrid vehicle and clean snowmobile teams, he can speak to the challenges and benefits of hybrid vehicle design and alternative transportation energies.
- David Noyce, civil and environmental engineering associate professor, (608) 265-1882, noyce@engr.wisc.edu.
Director of the UW-Madison Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory, Noyce is an expert in transportation safety issues. He can discuss transportation safety, traffic crash data, traffic control devices, and pedestrian issues.

Director of the National Center for Freight and Infrastructure Research and Education, Adams is an expert in multimodal freight movements, infrastructure maintenance, and location referencing systems. She can discuss freight and passenger congestion, trucking industry size and weight issues, or the long-term sustainability of transportation infrastructure systems.
