EVENTS FORECAST: WEEK OF APRIL 27-MAY 3

MADISON - Cynthia Cooper blew the whistle on one of the largest corporate frauds in U.S. history when she exposed internal issues at WorldCom in June 2002. Her speech, part of the Ethics and Professionalism Symposium on May 1, is just one of the public events occurring at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the week of April 27-May 3.

CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE: NAMA AND LIFE SCIENCES COMMUNICATION

DETAILS: Join the UW-Madison student chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) and the Department of Life Sciences Communication in a celebration recognizing 30 and 100 years of academic excellence. Enjoy food and refreshments, a short program and a silent auction, the proceeds from which will help fund NAMA student chapter events and travel to the annual national marketing team competition. GENERAL LEE'S ARMY: FROM VICTORY TO COLLAPSE

NUTRITION, MENTAL HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF PALESTINIAN PRESCHOOLERS - RESILIENCE AND VULNERABILITY

DETAILS: The Center for Global Health Seminar Series presents Salwa Massad, a doctoral candidate in population health. The resilience and vulnerability among preschoolers in the Gaza Strip was examined, using exposure to violence and deprivation as markers of stress and nutrition, mental health and quality of life as indicators of child resilience and vulnerability.

WORLDCOM WHISTLEBLOWER: CYNTHIA COOPER

DETAILS: Cynthia Cooper, famed WorldCom whistleblower and author of "Extraordinary Circumstances: The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower," will speak on her experiences as former vice president of internal audit at WorldCom, where she exposed one of the largest frauds in U.S. corporate history. Cooper will speak from 4-5:30 p.m., with a reception and book signing to follow.
