RE: TIP/JAMES THOMSON CELEBRATION EVENT AND NEWS CONFERENCE
A news conference will be held at 4:15 p.m. today at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Health Sciences Learning Center, 750 Highland Avenue, in Lecture Room 1325 located off the atrium, for an announcement that will feature:
- James Thomson, stem cell pioneer and UW-Madison professor of anatomy;
- Carl Gulbrandsen, chair, Morgridge Institute for Research Board of Trustees and managing director, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation;
- John and Tashia Morgidge, UW-Madison alumni and donors, members of the Morgridge Institute for Research Board of Trustees.
The news conference will be followed in the same location by a 5-6 pm "UW-Madison Discovery of the Year Celebration," honoring Thomson and his research team's isolation of human-induced pluripotent stem cells, published November, 2007. Reporters are invited to both events.
