'Jeopardy!' holds auditions for upcoming College Championship

America's favorite quiz show rolls into the Kohl Center to tape the 2008 College Championship in April, and "Jeopardy!" is looking for UW-Madison students to compete. Auditions are limited to full-time UW-Madison undergraduates who have not previously earned a bachelor's degree. A valid UW-Madison ID is required to audition. 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, TITU Memorial Union.

Undergraduate receives prestigious national scholarship

It's not every day that Provost Patrick Farrell drops in on the Introduction to Statistical Methods class to make an announcement. But that's what happened Monday morning, March 24, when Farrell visited the class of Jeffrey Wright, a senior from Montello, Wis., to inform him that he has been named the recipient of a prestigious Truman Scholarship, an award providing $30,000 for graduate study leading to a career in government or elsewhere in public service.

State's largest used book sale offers 15,000 books

The largest book sale in Wisconsin starts today (March 26) and runs through Saturday, March 29. From 5-9 p.m. the first day is a "preview sale" that costs $5 to enter, the regular sale runs 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Saturday is a $3-a-bag sale from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., and after that all books are free until 3 p.m. Room 116, Memorial Library.

Online forum discusses global agenda, includes cash prizes

The WI-Global Forum is an online discussion open to all UW-Madison undergraduates interested in exploring and discussing global issues and shaping the global agenda. The theme for spring 2008 is the role of music in understanding our world. Sponsored by Global Studies and the Offices of the Dean of Students, the two best contributions to the forum by active participants will each receive a $125 gift certificate to the DoIT Tech Store.

Distinguished Lecture Series brings Andrew Sullivan to campus

Sullivan is a libertarian conservative author and political commentator distinguished by his often personal style of political analysis and known for his unusual personal-political identity (HIV-positive, gay, self-described conservative often at odds with other conservatives, and practicing Roman Catholic). Free tickets will be available to students, staff and faculty at the Union Box Office on Tuesday, April 1, and on April 4 tickets will be made available to all. 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, Wisconsin Union Theater.

Submit works to the 80th Annual Student Art Show

Any enrolled UW-Madison undergraduate, graduate or special student with a valid student ID is eligible to enter up to three original pieces in this year's Student Art Show sponsored by the WUD Art Committee. Entries are accepted from noon-5 p.m. on Friday, March 28, and from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Memorial Union. The artwork will be judged on Monday, March 31, and artists whose work is chosen will be displayed in the Porter Butts and Class of 1925 galleries, located on the second floor of the Memorial Union.
