Wiscontrepreneur '100-Hour Challenge' starts Thursday

Anyone who is a creative thinker, a risk taker, an artist, a social activist or an entrepreneur with a big idea should enter the Wiscontrepreneur 100-Hour Challenge to win cash prizes. Participants will see if they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur as they attempt to turn $10 into a great idea in 100 hours. The contest starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.

First Wave documentary to debut

A four-day symposium on spoken word, hip hop and the academy begins Tuesday, April 22, from 7-9 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre, 115 King St., with the premiere of a documentary on UW-Madison's First Wave Spoken Word and Urban Arts Learning Community. The symposium is part of a rich and exciting lineup of spoken word and hip-hop events planned for the spring and summer by the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives.

Student group hosts hip hop workshop

Hypnotiq, UW-Madison's own hip hop team, will host a hip hop workshop on April 22, from 6-8 p.m. in the Memorial Union's Tripp Commons to give students a chance to practice old moves, learn some new ones and get a good workout.

The last day for undergraduate students to withdraw from classes without academic penalty is Friday, April 20; it is also the last day for graduate students to drop courses or convert courses from credit to audit.

Kinesiology Club to host Poker Run/Walk April 17

For the Kinesiology Club's 12th annual 5K Poker Run/Walk, each participant draws three cards at registration, then draws the two final cards of a poker hand upon crossing the finish line. The grand prize goes to the participant with the highest poker hand, not the fastest time. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Natatorium, and the race begins at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $10 for pre-registration and $12 at the event. Proceeds benefit the Madison Area Special Olympics and the Kinesiology Club of UW-Madison. The entry fee covers a T-shirt, food, beverages and a DJ for the event. The event will take place rain or shine.
