Men's track wins NCAA championship

Chris Solinsky may not have won his third consecutive national title in the 3,000 meters, but his second-place finish propelled the track and field team to the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championship. The team won its first NCAA title in track and field and the first ever for a Big Ten Conference school.

Mercury contamination of fish warrants worldwide public warning

The health risks posed by mercury-contaminated fish is sufficient to warrant issuing a worldwide general warning to the public, especially children and women of childbearing age, to be careful about how much and which fish they eat. This is the key finding of a report issued by the International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant, which was held last August in Madison.

Attend the Student Art Show's opening gala

The 79th Annual Student Art Show officially opens with a celebration at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, in the Memorial Union's Main Lounge. The show, housed in the Porter Butts and Class of 1925 Galleries, runs March 16-April 24.

Hoofer Riding Club hosts Elaine Kramer

The only Wisconsin woman inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Elaine Kramer will deliver a lecture along with a screening of a film detailing Kramer's accomplishments as an equestrian. Men's basketball enters tournament as no. 2 seed

The men's basketball team received its ninth consecutive invitation to the NCAA tournament, entering as a No. 2 seed in the East Region, the highest seeding in the team's history. The Badgers face Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the first round at 11:25 a.m. Friday in Chicago's United Center.

Tucker becomes all-time Badgers scoring leader

Alando Tucker gave a first-half performance even Michael Finley would enjoy. Tucker's first basket of the game against Illinois on Saturday, March 10, made Tucker the all-time leading scorer in Badgers basketball history. Tucker scored 14 of his game-high 21 points in the first half and led the Badgers to a 53-41 win over Illinois in a Big Ten tournament semifinal contest at the United Center.

Women's hockey: Frozen Four field set

The No. 1 women's hockey team will look for its second consecutive NCAA title at the Frozen Four March 16-18 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The Badgers will square off with No. 5 St. Lawrence at 4 p.m. on Friday, with the winner advancing to the championship game at noon on Sunday.

Women's basketball earns WNIT bid

The women's basketball team will appear in its third Women's National Invitation Tournament when it meets the winner of the Murray State-Arkansas State game on Thursday at 7 p.m. Wisconsin has bid to host all rounds of the WNIT at the Kohl Center, but Wisconsin will not know whether it hosts the next game until after the Murray State-Arkansas State game is finalized.

Men's hockey will face Michigan Tech on Thursday, March 15, in the play-in game at the 2007 WCHA Final Five. The winner will face top-seeded Minnesota in a semifinal on Friday, March 16.

The Dinners On Wisconsin! program will test the traditional alumni-student relationship by taking networking to the next level. Dinners On Wisconsin! provides undergraduates a chance to learn more about their career fields of interest by inviting them into the homes of UW-Madison graduates to discuss and explore their particular career choices over dinner. Monday and Tuesday, March 19 and 20.
