Hermosa efforts moving forward
UW-Madison is moving forward in its efforts to investigate and respond to alleged workers' rights abuses at a former Adidas Group subcontractor in El Salvador. In March, Chancellor John D. Wiley noted his concerns over the treatment of workers at Hermosa Manufacturing, an apparel producer located in Apopa, El Salvador.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month recognized on campus
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and university and community survivors and activists have assembled a full slate of activities ranging from lectures and training sessions to performances and a candlelight vigil. Follow the link to see a full listing of events.
Frying oil in Union buildings now trans-fat-free
In keeping with the trend on campus to promote healthier eating, the Wisconsin Union restaurants will be offering trans-fat-free fried food beginning this semester. This will include the Lakefront on Langdon and der Rathskeller in Memorial Union and Einstein's and the Red Oak Grill in Union South.
Tucker earns All-American honors
Alando Tucker was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press. Tucker is the first UW-Madison player to be named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press, which has been naming All-Americans since 1948.

Libraries ready for National Library Week
The Edible Book Festival kicks off National Library Week at the UW-Madison Libraries and is one of many treats that include a presentation by the director of one of the world's largest digital libraries, a lecture by the chief of rare books for the Library of Congress, and distribution of Alando Tucker posters and color-changing "Ask a Librarian" pencils.

UHS Health Tip: Sexual Health Week
Sex Out Loud promotes sexual health education with a sex-positive message. Sexual Health Week is Monday-Friday, April 16-20, and the theme of this year's event is "Gnome Means Gnome," featuring a garden gnome mascot. Programs and events take place all week.

Rep. Baldwin to describe possible global warming remedies
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin will discuss potential federal solutions to global climate change, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with UW-Madison experts. 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 1150 Chamberlain Hall.
UW DanceSport Team puts on Spring Showcase
This night of ballroom dance features an exciting line-up of solo routines. Experience everything from a romantic Bolero to the passionate Paso Doble. The showcase is 8:30-9:30 p.m., and general dancing is before and after that. 8-11 p.m. Friday, April 13, Great Hall, Memorial Union. Cost: $5 student, $8 general in advance; $7 and $10 at the door.
Who will be the next All-Campus Idol?
If you think you have what it takes to be the next All-Campus Idol, auditions are noon-5 p.m. Sunday, April 15. Each participant will sing one song of his or her choice a cappella, and a panel of four judges will assess singing ability and stage presence. Register online.
Bucky's Race for Rehab benefits medical clinic
The proceeds of the Eighth Annual Bucky's Race for Rehab, a 5K run and two-mile walk/wheel, go to MEDiC, a health-professional student-run medical clinic in Madison to benefit the underserved. Register online or at the race and receive T-shirts, prizes and enter a raffle. Same-day registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, and the race starts at 11 a.m. Cost: $12 pre-register, $15 day of race.

Friday, April 20: Last day to withdraw without penalty
The last day for undergraduate students to withdraw from classes without academic penalty is Friday, April 20; it is also the last day for graduate students to drop courses or convert courses from credit to audit.
Registration opens for Crazy Legs Classic
Participants can now register online for the annual Crazy Legs Classic 8K run and 2M walk, judged one of America's Best 100 Events by Runner's World magazine and the No. 1 Favorite Local Running Event for over ten years by Wisconsin State Journal readers. Register before Friday, April 20 ($20 runners, $25 walkers), to be eligible for prizes. Registration after April 20 is $35 runners and $25 walkers. The event takes place Saturday, April 28.
English Department offers book sale
This sale has hundreds of used books, including novels, anthologies, poetry collections, theory, criticism and more. All proceeds benefit the English department graduate student association. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 15-17, 6191 Helen C. White.
Opportunities
Nonviolent communication expert to offer training in May
Marshall Rosenberg, international peacemaker, author and found of the Center for Nonviolent Communication, will offer two days of training on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 1-2. "Speaking Peace in a World of Conflic" will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Alliant Energy Center. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance online. The two-day registration fee is $179, and one day costs $119, but students may register for $20 per day. Also, a limited number of scholarships are available.

Visitor and Information Programs is looking for outgoing and enthusiastic students to represent the university as information guides and tour guides this summer.
