The upcoming election in Madison on April 3 will select a mayor, alders and school board members. Please note that this election falls during UW–Madison’s spring break; if you plan to travel, visit the Voter Information site for information on obtaining an absentee ballot and other election information.
Morgridge Center celebrates 10 years of service

First UW Women’s Leadership Conference scheduled
The first-ever student-organized Women’s Leadership Conference, titled "Modern Women’s Bootcamp: From Backpack to Briefcase," will take place from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, in Grainger Hall.

Forum planned on domestic-partner benefits
Members of the campus community are invited to a forum designed to provide updates and information on the status of domestic-partner health insurance benefits. The session will be held from 3:30–5 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Main Lounge of the Memorial Union. Laurie Beth Clark, vice provost for faculty and staff programs and campus coordinator for the benefits issue, along with Dean of Students Lori Berquam, are expected to attend.

Hear everything you ever wanted to know about restraining orders at this meeting sponsored by the University Coordinated Community Response to Sexual Assault and the Dating/Domestic Violence Committee. Concert showcases student dance
The Spring Student Dance Concert showcases works by student choreographers, featuring a variety of multimedia, solo and group works ranging from the improvisational to the highly structured. The program includes several pieces selected to represent UW–Madison at the Great Lakes Regional American College Dance Festival this spring. 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space, Lathrop Hall. Bellydancing UW hosts annual spring show
Spectacular international bellydance star Meera headlines this year’s show, which features breathtaking performances from amateur and professional Midwestern dancers. 7:30–10 p.m. Saturday, March 10, Memorial Union Theater. Cost: $6 before Feb. 28, $8 after; $5 for students with ID.

Online lakeshore map wins national award
An online, interactive Web site that helps decipher the Lakeshore Nature Preserve has won an award that puts the UW–Madison student-driven project at the forefront of map design in the United States.
Alando Tucker named Big Ten Player of the Year
Wisconsin senior forward Alando Tucker has been named the consensus Big Ten Player of the Year by the league’s coaches and media.
No. 1 women’s hockey wins WCHA title
The No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey team defeated No. 9 Minnesota 3-1 Sunday afternoon in the WCHA playoff championship game at Ridder Arena. The team will play host to Harvard at 7 p.m. on March 10 in an NCAA quarterfinal at the Kohl Center.
Men’s indoor track No. 1 heading to NCAA finals
Days away from the NCAA Indoor Championships, the men’s indoor track and field team is ranked first in the final poll released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Badgers are also ranked No. 1 in the Trackwire 25, which predicts team scores at the national meet.

See some of UW–Madison’s finest student artwork at the 79th Annual Student Art Show, a juried exhibition of work that is open to the public March 16–April 24 in the Memorial Union. Students may submit their work to the Art Committee 12–4 p.m. Friday, March 9, or 1–3 p.m. Sunday, March 11.
