Celebrate American Indian culture

Join American Indian Elders from the United States and Canada for traditional American Indian Storytelling. The program includes live traditional music and stories in indigenous languages followed by English translation. 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10, Memorial Union Theater.

Innovation Days showcases student inventions

Ski bindings, a reclining wheelchair, digital storefront advertising, a page-turning machine and an online community are rarely found in the same context, but these and 15 other inventions, all conceived and built by UW-Madison undergraduates, will be the center of attention at the annual Innovation Days competitions, to be held Thursday and Friday, Feb. 8-9 in the Mechanical Engineering Building. The award ceremony is 12:30 p.m. Friday and includes $24,000 in prizes.

Second annual Darwin Day comes Saturday

The 198th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth will be celebrated on campus Saturday, Feb. 10, with a series of presentations and discussions intended to be engaging for the public. What is the impact of a religion on a community or nation and its culture? Friday, Feb. 9, is the last day for students to pay tuition and fees without paying a $100 fee for late payments.

New deli opens in Engineering Hall

The Grand Opening Celebration for the new Wisconsin Union Deli, "Engineering Eatery" will be held Monday-Friday, Feb. 12-16. Open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. every weekday, Engineering Eatery is located in the first floor of the Student Learning Center in Engineering Hall.

GUTS drop-in tutoring begins

GUTS, the Greater University Tutoring Service, is offering free drop-in tutoring to students beginning Sunday, Feb. 11, and continuing Sunday through Wednesday every week of the semester. Tutors are available at College Library from 3-11 p.m. and Steenbock Library from 7-11 p.m. in various subjects including physics, chemistry, math and foreign languages.
