Athletics outlines season-ticket policy
The Athletic Department promotes good sportsmanship, appropriate fan behavior and a welcoming atmosphere for all at every athletic event. Failure to meet these standards can result in revocation of season tickets for the rest of the season, and season-ticket holders are responsible for their own conduct and the conduct of all others who use their tickets to gain admission to athletic events.
Howard Zinn to speak, accept award
Acclaimed historian, playwright and social activist Howard Zinn will receive the UW Havens Center's Award for Lifetime Contribution to Critical Scholarship and speak on "The Uses of History and the War on Terrorism." 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Orpheum Theatre, 216 State St.

The University has adopted a detailed, multi-year plan that will reshape its use of limited term employees (LTEs), Chancellor John D. Wiley announced Tuesday.

Open Science Grid provides massive computing power
UW-Madison computer scientists will play a central role in the expansion of a national "Open Science Grid," an interconnected computing infrastructure that provides scientists with a massive infusion of computing power and storage capacity to solve large, data-intensive challenges in science.
UHS Health Tip: Get a massage
During the semester, stress can weigh students down mentally, physically and academically. Massage can decrease stress, relax the mind and body, diminish pain, decrease depressive and anxious feelings, increase concentration and promote healthy sleep. U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin and Dave Magnum, the Democrat and Republican candidates for the Second Congressional District, will participate in a forum on global issues from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, in the Great Hall, Memorial Union.

"An Inconvenient Truth" to show in Union Theater
This critically acclaimed documentary film on global warming weaves the science of the issue with Al Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. The screening is today, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wisconsin Union Theater.
German official addresses transatlantic relations
Karsten Voigt, coordinator for German-American Cooperation in the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and a senior member of the German parliament, will deliver a speech titled "The United States and Germany: Working Together to Meet the Challenges in the Greater Middle East." The speech is at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, in 1100 Grainger Hall.
Lecture examines atomic bombing of Japan
The end of World War II or the beginning of the Cold War? The Vote 2006 Coalition Web site provides voting information specifically for students to become more educated voters on Nov. 7.
Intramurals: 3-on-3 basketball tournament
Team entries will be taken in the Natatorium Program Office from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10 and 11. Sign up early because the tournament brackets are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with a 64-team limit.

Attend the Graduate School Fair
Students considering graduate school should attend this event to research potential graduate schools or programs, including programs in the health professions. Last year, more than 80 graduate schools from across the country attended this event, which takes place from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, TITU Memorial Union.
Essay contest: "Where Is Home?"
This contest challenges international students to help fellow students and community members better understand their experiences on campus and in the United States. Students may learn a lot about themselves in the process and win a prize.
