- ‘Expand Your Horizons’ gets young women thinking about science careers Oct. 26, 2005 In the early 1990s, Cara Wall Scheffler attended an Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference as a middle school student in Seattle. She met talented scientists, got a taste of electrical engineering by making extension cords, and saw that a career in science was a definite option. Now, Wall Scheffler will be returning to EYH, as one of 65 presenters in a daylong workshop on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Union South at UW-Madison.

- Second Plan 2008 forum scheduled for Nov. 3 Oct. 18, 2005 The second half of the Creating Community Plan 2008 Forum will be held from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, at Memorial Union. The forum will focus on skill-building for students, faculty and staff working to improve campus climate. A breakout session will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. with information and guidelines on dealing with sexual harassment.
- ‘Youth Speaks’ initiative will be foundation for next class of leaders Oct. 11, 2005 UW-Madison Chancellor John D. Wiley is announcing a new initiative to strengthen the links between the university's multicultural programming and community outreach. The initiative will enhance and complement other campus-based diversity activities under the umbrella of Plan 2008, but be distinctive in its programming and goals.

- Counseling psychology honored for minority achievement Oct. 4, 2005 The Department of Counseling Psychology in the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education has received the 2005 Suinn Minority Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association (APA) in recognition of the department's exemplary recruitment, retention and graduation of racial and ethnic minority students.

- Campus Plan 2008 forum set for Sept. 29 Sept. 12, 2005 Students, faculty and staff are invited to spend Thursday, Sept. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 3 discussing ideas and inspiration for UW-Madison's efforts to improve diversity and campus climate. The sixth annual Plan 2008 Campus Forum will be held over two days, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Memorial Union (TITU). All sessions are free and the entire Madison community is invited.
- Conference to explore changing face of discrimination Sept. 8, 2005 The conference "Looking Toward the Future: Discrimination and Prejudice in the 21st Century" will be held at the Wisconsin Union on Sept. 15-18 and will feature more than 30 national researchers on the topic.
- Hurricane relief effort announced for Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium Sept. 2, 2005 Badger football fans will have an opportunity to share their generous spirit in support of people affected by Hurricane Katrina. Fans can make monetary donations to the American Red Cross at Camp Randall Stadium before the season-opener against Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept 3.
