Engine industry master's program graduates its first class

Back in 2003, Rick Geisheker, a design engineer for Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee, didn't mind driving to the University of Wisconsin-Madison once or twice each year to attend seminars on the engine industry. But when Kevin Hoag, the director of continuing engineer education for the College of Engineering, told him about a new opportunity to earn a master's degree in engineering through his personal computer, he knew the university was onto something.

More than 150 years of the Wisconsin Blue Books go online starting today in the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections. The digitization project provides worldwide open access on the Internet to facts and figures on the government, people, industry, lifestyle and history of the state of Wisconsin.

Students create new environmental strategy for Lake Ripley

With the help of University of Wisconsin-Madison students, communities around Lake Ripley in southeastern Wisconsin are among the first in the state to use an innovative social strategy known as community-based social marketing, or CBSM, to deal with an environmental problem.

UW study tests topical honey as a treatment for diabetic ulcers

Jennifer Eddy, a physician at UW Health’s Eau Claire Family Medicine Clinic and an assistant professor of family medicine at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, is conducting the first randomized, double-blind controlled trial of honey for diabetic ulcers.
- Climate change exhibit opens May 5 in Ashland May 1, 2007 A traveling art and science exhibition focusing on climate change in the Lake Superior region will open Saturday, May 5, at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland. An opening reception will be held at the center at 4 p.m. that day.
