Live stream of Chancellor Rebecca Blank’s Moynihan Prize Lecture “What Drives American Competitiveness?”
A live stream will be available at 1:30 p.m. central time Thursday of University of Wisconsin–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank delivering the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Lecture on Social Science and Public Policy at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The lecture is given each year by the winner of the Moynihan Prize, which is awarded by the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
Blank will speak on the factors driving American economic competitiveness.
“There are two key components of U.S. competitiveness: a skilled and nimble workforce, and staying on the front edge of innovation,” says Blank, a former presidential advisor and Commerce Department executive. “The United States has reduced its commitment to broadly accessible higher education and to basic research just as other countries have increased their commitments in these areas.”
The Moynihan Prize, named after the late U.S. senator from New York, honors individuals who use sound analysis and social science research to inform public policy while also contributing to the public discourse on society’s most pressing issues.
