APR campus forum on Oct. 19 focuses on work of process-improvement teams

October 13, 2011

Several process redesign teams will talk about the progress of their redesign projects and share their findings with campus.

Administrative Process Redesign (APR) is in its fifth year and now offers support for process improvement both across campus units and within divisions. APR is also playing a role in Administrative Excellence, the campuswide efficiency initiative involving the Huron Consulting Group.

APR has assisted Huron in gathering data for analysis and recommendation and will be expanding its role in the next several months to guide the work of Administrative Excellence using APR concepts, tools and techniques.

The forum will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Lowell Hall Dining Room, 610 Langdon St.

The Award Closeout team, the final APR team in a series of five teams working to improve the university’s research and grant administration process, will be presenting its solutions to close a greater percentage of awards on time. The Traveler Reimbursement team will be talking about its progress to improve the customer experience using the e-reimbursement system. Several other redesign teams will also be presenting, including a team from the Wisconsin Union who used Kaizen, a quick process improvement approach, to improve the overall customer experience at the popular ice cream shop the Daily Scoop.

All university staff is invited to the forum and may attend without loss of pay. Staff should make arrangements with their supervisors before attending. No registration is required. The forum will also be video streamed and viewable at www.vc.wisc.edu/apr.
